Allison Chinchar is a meteorologist for CNN as well as HLN. She appears regularly on CNN's "New Day Weekend"', and HLN's "Weekend Express' as well in CNN International programs. The station meteorologist was employed as a local station meteorologist at Atlanta, Nashville and Chattanooga before she joined CNN. She was a meteorologist for hurricanes and blizzards as well as flooding, wildfires, and won an Emmy for the coverage she offered of Hurricane Dorian which struck the Bahamas in 2019. Her coverage of the Super Tornado Outbreak of April 2011, in which over 350 tornadoes were recorded in the Southeastern United States over a time of just four days, with 200 happening on April 27, was also nominated in the Emmy Awards. She has covered changes in the climate, as well as volcanic eruptions and earthquakes because of her experience in environmental science. Chinchar holds a Bachelor of Science in Atmospheric Science. She graduated from The Ohio State University. She's also a part of the American Meteorological Society and Canadian Meteorological and Oceanographic Society.
